In part one, I reviewed the misconceptions associated to outsourcing. In part two, I provided some tips to achieving successful outsourcing arrangements. In our finale, I am reviewing some of benefits you can achieve through a successful outsourcing agreement.

-
Leverage global best practices across several sectors
- Regardless of your company’s size and scale, valued business partner service providers can provide you with vanguard process improvements. They have an exclusive view into the inner workings of businesses outside your sector and can provide you with invaluable insight to future trends due to their potential international reach.
-
Remove the technology limitations of your experts
- Most companies are limited by their staff’s technical abilities (you are only as good as the staff you employ) but this can be significantly enhanced by the careful selection of the outsourcing providers you partner with. A great partner can help by either permanently or temporarily subsidising your capabilities with their own.
-
Improve and guide your capacity for change
- One of the most challenging aspects of delivering lasting transformational change is the culture of the staff and their willingness to accept this new way of working. When working through a service provider, you have the benefit of being able to modify your processes at virtually the push of a button. *** Warning *** Choosing a partner that does not have a vested interest in your success will allow you to make brash, unplanned process change requests and charge you dearly for the privilege. This way of working will hurt your business by allowing you to make changes without fully understanding the consequences including the costs. However, working together, your ability to deliver increases exponentially and you can leverage your service provider’s experience in other markets.
-
Potential shared R&D or parallel process testing
- Rather than your company taking the full R&D financial burden, by selecting an appropriate outsourcing provider and keeping an open mind, you may be able to find mutual benefit in jointly co-creating the new service. Equally, it is much easier to enforce a process change at a smaller scale and measure the benefits by leveraging a parallel process run to determine your businesses path going forward. This is much easier to enforce when working with a process minded partner.
-
Continual service improvements
- It is common practice that once the due diligence has been completed by an outsourcing provider, a number of savings have been identified that enable them to continue providing services as good or better than the ones you are wanting, while improving their margin over time. There are ways to setup the relationship agreement so that you can mutually benefit from these enhancements to the services. You can provide your users/customers with potentially improved services and added benefits, and potentially offer a mutually beneficial financial outcome as well.
